About Wired Radio
Wired Radio is Goldsmiths’ completely student-led radio station, which has been running in one form or another since 1997, started by MA Radio graduate Julian Lorkin. It was the first student radio station with an FM licence in London, and the first to transition to broadcasting over the internet with the help of the Computing department.
Host your own show
Students can apply to host their own radio shows, the topics of which can span from chat to news shows, and music programmes spanning many genres. You’ll get hands-on experience working in a small studio environment, including using relevant equipment like sound boards, mixing tables, microphones, and radio scheduling software.
Wired Radio is run entirely by students for students, and a new manager (or co-managers) are elected every year. Wired also presents “Wired Wednesdays” in the Students’ Union (“Student-led radio, student-led party!”), which showcases the best local DJs well into the night.
