Library Downstairs

Library (downstairs)

Head over to the library in the morning to return some of the books you’ve borrowed, and find some you think you’ll need for an essay. The Goldsmiths Library is so much more than books, however – it provides a vital hub for learning and studying. The ground floor was recently renovated so that it can be used for group work or catching up with friends. It’s a more relaxed setting than the reading rooms upstairs, and it includes a café so you can grab a well-earned coffee or snack.

Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre

Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre

Your first lecture is in the Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre, one of several big-tiered spaces on campus. You got here early, so have the choice of any of the almost 300 seats. You may regularly be taught in here, and you might return to attend one of the many guest lectures, readings, or panels that take place in the space.

Quad

Quad

After your lecture, you can head over to the open-air Quad, nestled right in the middle of the Richard Hoggart Building. This airy space is perfect for an al-fresco lunch, or to soak up the sun between lectures. This space provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the college’s corridors.

Students Union

Students’ Union (SU)

Lunch over, you can now walk over to the Students’ Union (SU) to meet up with your course mates and work on a group project. The building offers a relaxed space where you can work or meet up with friends. As well as the space, our union runs more than 100 student societies, sports clubs and communities you can join, spanning everything from basketball and bouldering to a Model United Nations Society and student media like Wired Radio.

Inside our accommodation

Content with your hard day’s work, you can head back to your home-away-from-home. No matter which Goldsmiths halls you live in, you’ll end up meeting people from different countries and backgrounds. Each hall also has a Resident Experience Coordinator who organises social activities to help to create a sense of community and get you involved with life at university.
