To bring your digital designs into the physical world, head to the Hatch Labs. Tucked away at the back of the St James Hatcham Building you’ll find state-of-the-art equipment for digital fabrication. Whether you need a laser cutter, 3D printer, or even woodworking equipment, it’s all there, so get stuck in.

Communal area in the Professor Stuart Hall Building

After all that time working on your latest project, you can go to the Professor Stuart Hall Building and sit in comfort with plenty of communal seating and floor-to-ceiling windows for you to enjoy while having your lunch. If you’ve not made your own lunch, there is a vegan café in the building, so you won’t go hungry.

Time to enter the virtual world. The Virtual Reality lab will allow you to create, inhabit and explore virtual worlds. This space is lots of fun and is fully equipped so you can even capture a live-action performance in the multi-camera motion capture studio.

Students Union

Students’ Union (SU)

There are plenty of great societies to join, and if you head over to the Students’ Union you can find out more. A particularly popular option for Computing students is Hacksmiths, a student-run tech society that gives everyone the chance to play with and learn about technology. To test out what you’ve learned you can enter ‘Hackathons’, invention marathons bringing together people with varying skills to work on ingenious projects.
